Kinja'd!!!

On the way to Austin for the long weekend. The bad part is that it's a game day for UT, so there's plenty of a-holes on the road. One of them tailgated me an hour ago and my wife is still threatening to kick his ass. I'd prefer not to pay bail.

But I'm driving and calm. I'll be sipping on my Dr. Pepper Icee soon enough during the home stretch!

Have you seen the Buc-ee's on I-35 between Austin and San Antonio? They must have 50 self serve gas pumps. Or more. It's insane how big it is.

I haven't been to Bastrop since it burned. How does it look?

I stopped there on a trip once, it was mind boggling to see all the pumps/ how big it was. It was early in the morning when we got there, so hardly anyone was there, but I tried to imagine how much of a frenzy it would be if all those pumps were full.

Even on I-35, I can't possibly imagine all those pumps being used. It seems a bit excessive.

That's probably the point (since Buc-ees is part gas station, part tourist attraction) so the shock value of all those pumps makes you remember going there. And their clean bathrooms, which is really nice, lol.

The importance of a clean bathroom while traveling cannot be overstated.

Yeah, I've been to the one in New Braunfels. I think it's more like 80 spots. It's glorious.

I didn't know the Bastrop location burned down. It looks fine to me!

Not the Bucc-ee's, the entire city. They experienced a massive forest fire three years ago. You could see the smoke from Austin and beyond.

Okay, wasn't sure that's what you meant. To be honest, it's a bit depressing when you drive in. All along 71 before you get into Bastrop, the trees are all burnt up sticks.

Fuck Bastrop. What stupid asshole town puts a stoplight in the middle of highway 21...

BASTROP. Bastrop does. I know you know what I mean, since I have to drive past that exact Buc-ee's every time I visit San Marcos.

Hmmm 1001 snack selections, 20 icee flavors, bbq and deli, trinkets and plenty of gas in one place (even fresh fruits and some veggies/groceries! at least in the hwy 290 stop in Cypress, TX). And yes clean bathrooms. Americuh! At least Texas!
